Here’s another installment of “things you’ll never hear a true Washingtonian say.”
Well, if the flight getting into Dulles is $10 cheaper, then let’s do that one.
For some reason, everyone in DC hates traveling in/out of Dulles airport. I’m one of them. And you know, the funny thing is, I can’t quite put my finger on why. I, just like nearly everyone else in DC, am a yuge fan of the National Airport.
Yes, the National Airport. Not Reagan. Apparently it’s becoming a faux pas to call the airport after its namesake – one of the most conservative presidents in recent history. I guess that’s because DC is generally more blue? This is one of the “true DC things” I’m having trouble swallowing. I stubbornly still call it Reagan. He happens to be one of my favorite presidents.
If you’re really a stickler for money, and you’re willing to drive over an hour after your flight, you’ll fly in/out of BWI. But let’s be honest: no true DCer worth his grit does that regularly. We all would rather pay a good bit extra to fly out of “National.” Why…?
Does anyone in DC ever ask why?
